Our FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions?
01. Are you accepting new learners?
Yes, depending on class type, learners can register. You can read about class types at the bottom of the Home Page
02. How do I register?
You can register in person at our school or online. Contact us, and we will guide you. To see payment options for both TZS and USD, click ‘payment methods‘.
03. How long do language courses take?
Normally, it depends on the language and level.
04. Do you certify students when they complete the course?
Yes, we do. Students have to sit for the final test, which evaluates learnt skills (listening, speaking, writing, reading, and translating). The passing score should be at least 60 out of 100. Students will pay 20,000 for the certificate upon passing and upon request.
05. What are your teaching methodologies?
We mainly apply the communicative one, where students interact more in teaching and learning activities. However, other methodologies can be applied where necessary. We intend to help students communicate as early as possible during the time they are with us. We let students grow their language abilities through day-to-day activities, including oral and written presentations, dictation, and listening to and answering questions in oral and written forms.
06. If I want a private or online slot, is it possible to discuss my slot hour?
Yes, we can discuss it, but only for a private or online class. The private classes run from Friday to Sunday, while the online classes run either Monday to Thursday or Friday to Sunday. Contact us for more details.
07. What are the requirements for the language learning course?
We prefer learners who have completed not below form four and have reason, vision, and readiness for their learning. Importantly, learning a language is part of cultural integration; learners should integrate with the language culture.
08. Do you accept fee instalments?
Yes, learners can make up to two instalments.
09. How many students are in a class?
On-site classes are between 1 and 12 learners. Private classes are between 1 and 3 learners, and online classes are for between 1 and 2 learners.
10. Who will my teachers be?
All of our teachers are academically professional Tanzanians with language-teaching experience. We are a language school, and all of our teachers are directly employed by us.
11. How does the Laoshi Institute of Languages confirm my language level?
Before your first class, you will take a replacement test. Your class level will be based on your test results.
12. Do you apply for visas for students?
No, we do not. Students have to apply for themselves
13. Is it worth learning more than one language at a time?
It varies depending on different perspectives. From our viewpoint, we advise learners to focus on one language initially, observe their progress in that language, and then decide whether or not to undertake a second language later. However, any learner can learn more than one language at a time when they sincerely confirm that they can manage learning more than one language at a time.
